Life Skills Training Starts at Support Works

Tuesday, April 10, 2012, is the start of Life Skills Training at Support Works. Support Works is a program provided by Elk Grove Food Bank Services and is sponsored by the City of Elk Grove. The new Life Skills Training is an eight-week program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each Tuesday, Job Readiness Training will consist of help with filing job applications, writing resumes, mock interviews, computer assistance, and “soft skills” such as what to wear, how to answer interview questions and more.

On Thursdays, we will offer classes that supplement Job Readiness Training with topics that will enhance your job search and provide the personal skills necessary to become self-confident and self-reliant.

Topics include: motivation, emotions (stress, depression, anger management), finding your passion, discovering your strengths, nutrition, helpful resources (legal, VA, health), finance, maintaining relationships, critical thinking skills.

Our case manager is available on Mondays and Wednesdays to work one-on-one with clients.
